Three times a year, something truly wonderful happens in Palm Beach County. On three glorious days each year, the churches of Palm Beach County put aside their denominational differences and gather to pray, to hear inspirational messages and to share a meal together at Church United Gatherings.
On the morning of September 11th, 2015, in a quiet upper room of Christ Fellowship Church, pastors and church leaders gathered around tables in groups of eight to ten to bow their heads and join their hearts before God. Prayers for our churches and our people of Palm Beach County rose like incense from the body of Christ huddled humbly together. Prayers for peace and unity and for local, national and worldwide revival were brought to the throne room of Heaven by a group of godly men and women who ignored their denominational differences and celebrated their similarities.
Downstairs, the aroma of hot cooked bacon and eggs and a buffet of healthy breakfast foods lined the perimeter of the room. Breaking bread together, pastors and preachers arrived that morning as strangers but left Cafe 242, collaborators for the Kingdom.
I in them and you in Me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me. John 17:23
Following breakfast, the crowd that represented nearly sixty Palm Beach County churches slowly moved into the sanctuary to hear the morning’s message. Pastors Todd Mullins, Julie Mullins and Tom Mullins welcomed everyone to the family, graciously and humbly navigating their way around the promotion of everything in their community except Christ Fellowship. Following a time of praise and worship, the crowd quieted, notepads were pulled out and iPhones flashed as Pastor Andreas Nielsen, Lead Pastor for Hillsong Stockholm got up to give a lively and inspiring message to the congregation of clergy.
Started by three local churches; Christ Fellowship, Family Church (formerly First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach), and Grace Fellowship, the purpose of the Church United Gathering is to unite the body of Christ in our region so that we will have a greater impact for the Kingdom of God. The gatherings are open to all evangelical churches in Palm Beach County.
All churches are invited and encouraged to commit the first Wednesday of each month to prayer and fasting as the primary battleground to unite our hearts.
The next United Church Gathering will be held on February 9th, 2016.
